We hope everyone is safe and well during this unprecedented time of crisis and change. The COVID-19 pandemic has undeniably uprooted daily life and work for all of us. As we find ourselves collectively acclimating to a rapidly-changing reality, CDAC remains steadfast in its core commitments: incubating cutting-edge data science research, amplifying our data science community, and building partnerships across the data science ecosystem.

To keep these commitments in a time of social distancing and remote engagement, we have cancelled all in-person events for the time being and are embracing virtual platforms for events and activities.

We hope you’ll join us for our all new virtual event series: Data Dispatches Spring Talk Series beginning April 3rd, which will highlight the exciting, cutting-edge research from our current seed fund projects. For more information about additional upcoming events, funding opportunities, and more, sign up for the CDAC newsletter here. The University has also created a research continuity page with updates about the pandemic, as well as funding opportunities for research combating COVID-19.

To current grantees, we will be in touch regarding next steps for your research project, and any measures necessary to adapt to current circumstances. For any questions regarding your project, please contact Julia Lane (jlane2@uchicago.edu).

The unprecedented nature of this time incites inquiry and necessitates continued collaboration across intellectual communities, and we are excited to continue to foster, encourage, and facilitate such partnerships. We hope you continue to take care of yourselves, your families, and your communities.
