Earl Bellinger

Earl Bellinger is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Astronomy, with a secondary appointment in the Foundations of Data Science Institute. Bellinger leads the Yale AstroML (YAML) research group, which focuses on using big data and artificial intelligence to make progress in problems throughout astronomy & astrophysics. YAML is particularly interested in advancing our understanding of the structure and formation of the Milky Way and its satellites through the study of their pulsating stars. Bellinger’s research broadly revolves around various kinds of pulsating start, which are fascinating because they are key to many interesting astrophysical endeavors, such as testing our understanding of fundamental physics finding properties of exoplanets, uncovering the history of our Milky Way galaxy, and measuring the size and age of the university.
