Naina Balepur is an Assistant Instructional Professor of Data Science at the University of Chicago. Before joining UChicago, she received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her Ph.D. work lay at the intersection of social network analysis and game theory, with a focus on understanding human decision-making through modeling and simulation. Most recently, she developed a model of institutional trust grounded in local interviews, and is excited to continue community-engaged work through outreach and teaching. As an instructor, she became interested in more transparent and inclusive teaching practices, and hopes to develop those at UChicago in the dynamic field of Data Science.
