DSI transcends traditional boundaries by organizing our research into interdisciplinary themes focused on high impact results that can benefit society.

Programs that use data science to lead, innovate and engage with our Chicago neighbors, industry, and social impact organizations, while building an equitable and inclusive academic data science community.

Building the foundations of data science, considering its ethical and societal implications, and communicating its discoveries to make the most powerful and positive real-world impact.

DSI sits in the John Crerar Library Building on the University of Chicago campus, co-located with the Department of Computer Science.
