During this interactive lecture, Dr. Christine Carpenter, a Clinical Associate Professor of Leadership at the Booth School of Business, will share valuable communication and leadership insight gained from her years as a clinical psychologist, and from teaching Interpersonal Dynamics at Booth. Attendees will increase knowledge on how to communicate in potentially stressful academic environments, in ways that build positive relationships. They will learn and practice skills designed to reduce defensiveness, resolve conflict and improve the giving and receiving of feedback. This approach to interpersonal relating is shown to build collegiality and community which correlates with improved project outcomes. It is equally applicable in professional settings as it is in personal relationships.
