Abstract: This talk explores the transformative impact of Large Language Models (LLMs) on healthcare. It emphasizes their potential to empower healthcare professionals, expedite research processes, and ultimately, enhance patient care. Endowed with a capacity for meticulous analysis of substantial volumes of medical text data, LLMs manifest a versatile array of applications within the realm of healthcare. These range from aiding in diagnostic procedures to providing medical support and facilitating patient education. The talk delves into the potential benefits and challenges associated with integrating LLMs in healthcare. By offering valuable insights, it contributes to shaping the future landscape of the field.

Bio: Dr. Nafiseh Mollaei, a Postdoctoral Scholar specializing in Biomedical Data Science within the Biological Science Division at the University of Chicago, brings extensive expertise to her current role. Previously, she served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Loyola University Chicago, where she was honored with the prestigious I-Corps Seed Award for her innovative proposal in AI-based Clinical Decision Science. Holding a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from NOVA University of Lisbon (Portugal), Dr. Mollaei also provided support to physicians at Volkswagen in making decisions regarding worker injuries on production lines. Notably, her previous projects include the collaborative Operator 4.0 initiative with MIT, aimed at addressing work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Additionally, Dr. Mollaei is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM, as evidenced by her involvement in leadership initiatives such as Women in STEM at UChicago.
