The MS in Applied Data Science program at UChicago is highly applied in nature, integrating business strategy, project-based learning, simulations, case studies, and specific electives addressing the data needs of various industry sectors. Through partnerships with key employers, the program also provides students with applied projects and data sets as well as access to career networks and employment pathways upon graduation. The MS in Applied Data Science, “Ask a Student” series allows prospective students the opportunity to meet virtually with current students in the MS in Applied Data Science program. Are you curious about life as a student in the University of Chicago’s MS in Applied Data Science program? Do you have burning questions about coursework, projects, or the overall student experience? Well, you’re in luck! We’re thrilled to announce our upcoming virtual event, “Ask a Student,” where you can get all your queries answered.

Student Bio:

Nick Pandolfi is currently pursuing his master’s in applied data science part-time (third quarter), he works full-time as a Marketing Data Scientist at Google, empowering Retail Advertisers within their Large Customer Sales organization with data-driven insights through measurement and analytics. His background includes six years at WPP, with experience in both cloud consulting and digital advertising. As a Cloud Consultant, he partnered with Data Science & Cloud Engineering teams to develop and deploy Machine Learning models on Google Cloud for Advertisers. Prior to this, he spent time at a WPP digital media agency managing digital media buying and measurement for key accounts like Facebook, Kimberly Clark, and General Mills. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a Marketing Concentration from Saint Louis University’s Chaifetz School of Business. The University of Chicago’s Applied Data Science program has been incredibly valuable in the first three quarters alone, enabling his professional growth by directly applying statistics and machine learning concepts to real-world business challenges faced by Fortune 500 Advertisers.

Deadlines

Please note, only the part-time, online program begins in the Spring quarter. All other program offerings, including the part-time, online begin in Autumn. Curious about the academic calendar? Please use the following link to access current and future calendar years: Academic Calendar

In-Person:

• May 6, 2025 – Third Priority Application Deadline
• June 23, 2025 – Final Application Deadline

In-Person application decisions are released approximately 1 to 2 months after each respected deadline.

Online:

The online program operates on a rolling admissions basis. Those seeking the DSI Scholarship are encouraged to submit their application early. The deadline represents the last date applications are accepted for the respected start date.

  • June 23, 2025 – Final Application Deadline

*The application portal may close early if the cohort is filled.

Applications for the MS in Applied Data Science program must be submitted by the deadline to be considered for each respective round, with no exceptions. The international application deadline has passed. International students are welcome to apply when our 2026 application cycle opens.
